African Accent 101: Annunciation

Today, as we walked toward the crowd waiting for an advanced hygiene lesson in a village outside of Kigali, I jokingly asked if I could go to the "party" instead. As in... the church meeting next door with the Rwandese people and African beats pouring out of it. Instead, I was escorted to a hole in the ground inside a little wooden structure. As in... the "potty". And now, I know. Thankfully, Phillip explained the misunderstanding, and the town leader knew that I wasn't just rejecting her hospitality. I'm not above it, just didn't need it at the time.

The lesson went well. The people had retained a lot from their previous lesson, and the review portion was a breeze. To build on their knowledge, we explained the oral re-hydration solution - a homemade remedy for diarrhea, a common cause of death in places like this. I am continuously honored that we can serve God and human beings in the simplest of ways. It's a wonderful adventure every day, even when some things are lost in translation (or pronunciation). Thank you for being in it with me.

  1. Kate,

Hey This is Awesome. May God continue to bless you and the Rwanda people in this ministry project. All Glory be to Him and just know that the little desire in your heart has touched millions. Thanks for being an encouragement.

Praise God for your efforts and all other contributors who have jumped into the wells of LWI. My prayer is that more water and more Jesus will be poured out as a result to this vision. 1 Peter 2: 4-5
